Welcome to Notez! This guide will help you get started with your private AI writing space in just a few minutes.

What is Notez?

Notez is a privacy-first writing application that combines the power of AI with your personal knowledge base. Unlike other tools, Notez keeps all your data local and private while providing intelligent writing assistance.

Getting Started

Step 1: Download and Install

1. Visit our download page
2. Choose your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
3. Follow the installation instructions

Step 2: Create Your First Note

1. Launch Notez
2. Click on "New Note" or use the shortcut `Cmd+N` (Mac) or `Ctrl+N` (Windows)
3. Start typing your content
4. Save your note with `Cmd+S` or `Ctrl+S`

Step 3: Set Up Your Knowledge Base

1. Go to Settings → Knowledge Base
2. Add folders containing your documents (PDF, Word, Markdown, etc.)
3. Let Notez index your content for AI features

Step 4: Configure AI Features (Optional)

1. Navigate to Settings → AI Configuration
2. Add your preferred AI model API key
3. Choose between local or cloud-based AI models
